Taj Mahal is a monument of love

If you are on vacation to India, apart from a visit to Kashmir, then you should not forget to visit the Taj Mahal, a monument of love. 


 This beautiful monument is built by the Emperor Shah Jahan between 1632 and 1648 as a mausoleum for his second wife Mumtaz Mahal, who sadly died in 1631, giving birth to their 14th child. In her dying breath, Mumtaz Mahal urged Shah Jahan to build a mausoleum for her, more beautiful than any the world had ever seen.

Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world and an enduring Indian icon.

Taj Mahal is the finest existing example of Mughal architecture. It combines intricate Persian, Turkish, Indian and Islamic styles to devastating effect and seems to appear as immaculate today as when it was first constructed.

Taj Mahal probably the most extravagant monument ever built for love, the Taj has become the tourist emblem of India. This beautiful monument was built about 22 years, and every detail is absorbing: the classical gardens, the reflecting pool and the elaborate patterns of semi-precious stones decorating the white marble. There are many visitors which says that the beauty of Taj Mahal is remarkable when sunrise and at sunset. You can choose to come early in the morning or at dusk.

There is a lot of compliment from various viewpoints about the beauty and grandeur of the Taj Mahal. Its timeless beauty is perhaps best captured in the words of the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore who described it as 'a teardrop on the cheek of time'.

There can be no comparison to this great monument ever. I am actually very touched and jubilant to see it. It is just wow. "
